The Ferrari F430 sports car was launched in 2004 at the Paris Motor Show, while its stable friend, the F430 Spider, a two-sided convertible version of the Berlinetta, was introduced in March 2005 at the Geneva Motor Show.

Just like the 355 Spider, the soft top was electrically operated and automatically folded into a space in front of the engine compartment, which was shown under a glass lid.

The two-step operation was very fast, on the order of about 20 seconds, and did not in any way conceal the engine's vision, even when folded.

Like its predecessors, the F430 series, including Spider, was designed by Pininfarina.

It was equipped with much larger rear air intakes to ensure maximum cooling of the new engine due to the convincing weight.

There were two air intakes on the front of the car that were fed into a spoiler, located under the front bumper, which operated to channel the air distributor car.

This contributed to increasing the marquee effect, which was further improved by the presence of a large diffuser mounted on the back, in combination with the fact that the underside of the car was completely flat.

A new feature was called E-Diff and was, in fact, a limited sliding difference that was computer-activated to give maximum grip during oscillation, thus preventing wheel spinning.

A further addition was the Manettino switch, which is located on the steering wheel, which meant that the driver can choose a computer-controlled function, depending on road conditions, such as traction control via E-Diff, suspension, shifting speed and gas control.

Ceramic composite disc brakes, with superior counterfeit capabilities, were available as an option, and the F1 shift shifts were also offered.

F430 Spider shared the same interior as Berlinetta.


The F430 Spider is powered by the new 4.3-liter V8 engine, with four valves per cylinder, unlike the five-cylinder 360-series layout.

This larger engine developed 483 bhp at 8500 rpm (redline) and 344 ft / lbs of torque at 5250 rpm.

Compare with the Coupe, which allowed the spider to produce a top speed of 193 mph (3 mph slower) and a 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds (2 seconds longer).


The competitors of the Ferrari F430 Spider sports car included the following: Lamborghini Gallardo Spider, Porsche 911 Turbo Convertible and Lamborghini Diablo VT Roadster. Ferrari Performance:


Originally priced at $ 200,000, a Ferrari F430 Spider in good condition would pick up about $ 100,000, while an excellent condition example could lead up to $ 150,000.
